I know there’s been a huge amount of concern locally about the sudden closure of the Rose Garden Café in Graves Park.
I have recently met with the Friends of Graves Park and the owners of the café business to discuss the building and what steps we can take to get it urgently reopened. And in the meantime we are trying to secure some temporary accommodation so that the business can operate at least in part during its busiest summer weeks.
I’m raising all of this with the council urgently and will post as soon as I have an update.
Update – 05/08/2022
The Council have released the below statement confirming they are exploring options about the future of the building and that no decision has yet been taken.
I’m pleased they’ve committed to working with the Friends of Graves Park and the Cafe managers to finding solutions both temporarily and in the long-term.
However, over a week after it was closed, its simply not good enough that temporary accommodation has still not been provided during the cafe’s most profitable weeks.
I’m continuing to pursue the Council and will post again when I have any further update
